Xylon Reveals New logiR-GVIF2-4960-4963 Board, Enabling Dual GVIF Video Capture in Test Vehicles

Xylon has introduced its new logiR-GVIF2-4960-4963 I/O video board, fully supporting Sony’s Gigabit Video Interface (GVIF) standard. Designed for high-speed automotive video applications, this board enhances automotive testing and validation with dual-channel GVIF video and metadata acquisition, as well as full playback in HIL simulations.

The GVIF interface, developed by Sony, is a high-speed digital serial interface tailored for in-vehicle video transmission. It offers low EMI, high reliability, and support for uncompressed high-definition video, making it ideal for automotive environments where real-time, high-resolution video is critical.

The new GVIF2 I/O board is fully compatible with Xylon’s logiRECORDER 3.5 Automotive HIL Video Logger, enabling synchronized recording of two GVIF video channels and associated metadata from test vehicles. Integrated serializer/deserializer pairs – Sony’s CXD4963ER-W and CXD4960GG-W chips – support serial data rates up to 6 Gbps, allowing video capture at resolutions up to 1080p @ 120 fps.

Supported video formats include:

  • RAW: 8 / 10 / 12 / 16 / 20 bits
  • YCbCr422: 8 bits
  • RGB: 24 bits

Thanks to the modular design of the logiRECORDER 3.5, which accommodates up to six video I/O boards, users can record from multi-camera GVIF2 systems simultaneously. The platform also allows mixing different video interfaces, such as GVIF2 and GMSL2, for even more comprehensive testing setups.

In addition to video recording, the GVIF2 board supports playback of recorded data and is optimized for hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) systems. It can inject previously recorded test data into the DUT (Device Under Test) or convert synthetic simulation data into raw formats, enabling full closed-loop HIL testing environments.

The logiR-GVIF2-4960-4963 video I/O board will be fully available in Q4 2025. In addition to GVIF2 support for the logiRECORDER 3.5 datalogger, Xylon is also planning to release GVIF2 I/O modules for its more powerful XYLON QUATTRO system.
