ProHIL: Multi-Sensor Cost-Reductive HIL Solution
Xylon has teamed up with Cognata, a cutting-edge autonomous driving technologies provider, to provide a comprehensive ADAS and AV Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) solution.
The resulting product is ProHIL– an ultra-compact, cost-reductive, multi-sensor HIL solution that supports the most advanced automotive sensors, such as hi-resolution video cameras, LIDARs and RADARs.
Cognata’s photorealistic simulation platform enables users to design different traffic situations by combining road infrastructure, vehicles, people and road objects in complex interactions. In addition, users can select the type, number and performance, as well as the position of multiple heterogeneous sensors placed on the selected simulation ego vehicle.
Xylon’s plug-in software connects with Cognata’s simulator to get the selected sensory data and to convert the data into expected automotive formats, such as MIPI packets common for video cameras.
Prepared data is streamed towards the logiRECORDER box via a single Ethernet cable!
Xylon’s logiRECORDER receives and converts the synthetic data into automotive data that can be streamed to the ECU. For example, the simulated video camera is connected to the ECU via a high-speed GMSL2 serial automotive interface, while GPS and engine sensors are connected via Ethernet.
Best-in-class vehicle connectivity of Xylon’s data loggers enables quick adaptions and easy support for a variety of automotive sensors already supported by Cognata’s simulation environment.
The ECU or a driving computer is not aware of the synthetic nature of its inputs, and it enables a quick check of perception or navigation algorithms, as well as the use of the platform for any other purpose.
The ProHIL system supports both open- and closed-loop HIL simulations.
