Smart Logging with Xylon – Triggering & Filtering

Smart Data Logging with Xylon – Optimize On the Go: Capture Only the Best Data, Leave the Rest Behind!

Modern vehicles generate vast amounts of data during test drives, often reaching terabytes. Storing this data requires significant resources, leading to higher costs and greater complexity in data analysis. The more data logged, the slower and more expensive it becomes to extract meaningful insights.

What if you could focus on capturing only the most relevant data?

Xylon’s event-triggered recording system ensures that only the most critical data is captured, reducing storage requirements and streamlining analysis. By focusing on relevant events, you save time and money while enhancing boosting development efficiency.

Triggering: Create Custom Logging Scenarios

Set up conditions to define when recording should start and stop, capturing only corner-case scenarios. The system guarantees that all data following the triggering event is precisely timestamped and logged, even if it arrives just a few nanoseconds later.

For example, the logger can be configured to start recording once specific conditions are met – ranging from straightforward events like sudden braking or reaching a certain vehicle speed (these signals can be extracted from vehicle databases) to more complex scenarios requiring multiple conditions to occur within a particular timeframe.

Group Triggers for Complex Scenarios

For more advanced and corner-case recording scenarios, users can combine multiple triggering events into a Group Trigger.

For example, one group trigger could consist of events such as the vehicle reaching a specific speed, entering a designated GPS coordinate, and detecting a particular object. Recording begins only when all these conditions are met within the specified timeframe.

Another group trigger might include an Ethernet packet from LiDAR with specific data, a digital input like a button press, and sudden braking. This configuration could stop recording or simply mark a specific moment within the session for easier analysis later.

There is no limit to the number of triggering events or group triggers that can be created.

Pre- and Post- Triggering for a Complete View

To ensure key moments surrounding a triggering event are captured, enable the pre/post-triggering feature.

With the pre-trigger feature, the system captures data leading up to the triggering event, while the post-trigger extends recording for a specified duration after the event.

This flexibiliy empowers users to create highly tailored scenarios that suit their specific needs.

Automated, Driver-Free Data Logging

By enabling the logger to automatically begin recording based on triggered events or at designated times of the day, the system eliminates the need for driver intervention. Data is captured seamlessly without manual input, distractions, or reliance on the driver’s actions.

Data Filtering: Record Exactly What You Need

Xylon’s advanced filtering features allow you to define precisely what to log and what to exclude. Specific interface channels, message types, or protocols can be filtered and logged.

For example, user can apply a pass filter to log only CAN messages from a particular CAN relevant to the project.

The combination of triggering and filtering ensures data is captured during critical moments – no more, no less. This approach is particularly valuable for ADAS and autonomous vehicle development.

All-in-one Application

All these features are accessible through Xylon’s Dashboard application, included as part of the standard data logger deliverables. The application simplifies configuration, recording and analysis, ensuring an efficient and streamlined workflow.

With Xylon, you can reduce unnecessary data processing, shorten analysis times, and accelerate development. Experience a smarter, more efficient approach to automotive data logging.
